Triangular Fixture

Gresham’s v St. Joseph’s College & Littlegarth School

Playing at the neutral venue of Wymondham Rugby Club the full Gresham’s available U11 A Team played a triangular fixture with matches against St Joseph’s College and Littlegarth School.

The fixtures durations were decreased to 10 mins each half to fit all three fixtures into the time available.

Greshams played St. Joseph’s first and struggled with the evasive running and off loading game of their opponents. Trailing by one try to two in the first half Gresham’s equalled St. Joseph’s in the second half with two trys a piece to end with a narrow loss 4-3. Gresham’s trys came from Olaolu A (2) and Stanley B

Gresham’s second match was against Littlegarth School who had just finished playing St.Joseph’s and won comfortably 4-0.

The boys put in a superb battling performance with some very good rugby played in parts and led 4-3 with trys from Olaolu A (2), Joey P and Oscar BW until the last minute. A late try by Littlegarth School forced the draw. Final score 4-4.

Congratulations to Robert S and Noah C who captained their respective matches well and led by example on and off the field. Our thanks to all the boys that played today (some for the first time this season) and contributed to the development and success of the team.

MOTM was again difficult because of the large number of good performances on the day. As there were two matches I have picked two MOTM’s. For his overall performance and especially his work rate and skills execution it goes to Oscar BW, congratulations on two wonderful performances. For overall performance and his excellent work in contact, especially counter rucking the second MOTM award goes to Noah C, congratulations on two strong performances.

Thank you to Wymondham RFC for hosting us and for St.Joseph’s College and Littlegarth School travelling to play and playing so well as our opposition.

Finally, I would like to thank our wonderful parents who were so positive and supportive of our boys. A special thank you to Sarah Atkinson who helped injured players throughout the day as “Medic” and put up with me calling her Claire as she did. Thank you both for your expertise and your tolerance Sarah.
