U11 A Team v Framlingham School and Littlegarth School (Triangular fixture)
After a small delay whilst travelling Gresham's U11 A team had a very quick warm up before their first fixture against Framlingham. Framlingham had already played and beat Littlegarth in the opening match and were comfortable moving the ball in attack. Early on however Gresham's managed to combine strong carrying from Noah C and Robert S with a passing game to reward Olaolu A with the opportunity to attack in space and score three of Gresham's five tries. Framlingham managed two tries of their own but for the most part Gresham's physicality in defence limited attacking opportunities. MOTM for the fixture goes to Capt James C who carried effectively throuhout. Congratulations to Angus C who debuted for the first half and acquitted himself well with a strong performance in support of his ongoing development.
Final Score Gresham's 5 Framlingham School 2
Next up was Littlegarth School. Despite having lost to Framlingham earlier Gresham's knew that this would be a close run affair having played Littlegarth earlier in the season and drawing the fixture. Sure enough Littlegarth ran the ball well and kept the ball alive in contact. Coupled with some intelligent kicking Littlegarth managed to keep the pressure on Gresham's and despite a try from Gresham's speedster Olaolu A Littlegarth triumphed 2 trys to one. Again Noah C carried strongly in traffic and set up some good platforms for Gresham's to attack from and Robert S was very active in defence but MOTM goes again to the Capt, Stanley Beales who was positive with the team and contributed well in both attack and defence.
Final Score Gresham's 1 Littlegarth 2
Thank you once again to our travelling parents for their valuable support and to our hosts Bury St. Edmunds RFC who did a wonderful job and thank you to both opposition schools for some fantastic rugby and camaraderie on the day.
