Boys Rugby U11 A Team

Greshams v Town Close and Old Buckenham Hall (a) Triangular

A fabulous afternoon of rugby took place on Wednesday on the Town Close pitches close to the centre of Norwich. A light drizzle did little to dampen the spirits of three groups of U11's from three schools who competed against each other in a mini triangular fixture.

Gresham's first fixture was home side Town Close. Both sides aimed to keep the ball alive and despite their best efforts play was concentrated up the middle of the pitch with occasional visits to the wider areas of the field. One to nil at half time turned into three, one by the end with determined defence by Gresham's their stand out effort. Trys came from Olaolu A, Joey P and Robert S and Raphie K was named MOTM for his busy, overall performance.

Next up was Old Buckenham Hall. Recent debutants Freddie H and Arthur L joined the squad and played their part well as the match continued to "to and fro" with no one team really dominating. Old Buckenham were however more confident using the ball before and during contact and exploited the wider channels well. Despite three trys from Olaolu A and a powerhouse performance from Noah C the game was decided by a late try for OBH. Final score Gresham's 3 OBH 4. MOTM went to George VC who had his strongest game to date with some very good tackling and ball carrying.

The event was a huge success and our thanks go to all the boys for some wonderful rugby, to Town Close for hosting us so well and to all of the parents and grand parents that travelled to show their support on the touchlines.
