Boys Rugby - Gresham's U11 A Team v Orwell Park (h)

Result Gresham's 7 - Orwell Park 2

Fair weather returned to Holt for the boys 5th fixture of the season and supported a free flowing style of running rugby which is so encouraged and developed at this age grade.

The boys were quickly off the mark against a developing Orwell Park with scores from Oscar BW, Robert S,James C and Captain Olaolu A. The style of play was very much what the boys have been practising and support play was amazing. Orwell settled in and started playing some good running rugby of their own and were rewarded with a try before half time.

Orwell Park limited Gresham's to three trys in the second half with both sides tackling superbly much to the delight of the many supporting parents on the touchline. Joey P and Stanley B added their names to the score card and Oscar BW added a second for a brace on the day. Again Orwell Park found their way to the try line for a well deserved second try despite some determined defence from the home side.

At the final whistle the score was 7-2 in Gresham's favour but more importantly both sets of boys had clearly enjoyed the match and demonstrated clear development of their abilities to play more expansively and an increased understanding of the game as a whole.

Our thanks to Orwell Park for making the not inconsiderable journey to play the fixture and for their effort and sportsmanship on the day. We wish them good luck for the rest of their season and look forward to travelling to Suffolk next year for the return fixture.

Congratulations to Captain and deserved MOTM, Olaolu A for a strong all round performance in both attack and defence, which helped inspire his side to victory.

Gresham's next fixture will be after the half term break against Whitham Hall away from home at a neutral ground.
