Match Report
Gresham's School Girls-U15A vs  Ipswich School
On: Saturday, 02 Oct 2021
Venue: Away

In year 9 this set of girls lost by double figures to their Ipswich counterparts. The talk all week was about this result and the nerves were setting in. The Pre match meeting was all about positivity, sports psychology and working as a team. The girls went 1-0 down to a reverse undercut worthy of a 1st XI match. They did not let their heads drop and got back into it with a really well taken penalty corner. Ipswich pressed and pressed with Florence making some great saves and we went close twice before Ipswich took two quick goals to lead 3-1 at half time. At half time the talk was all about how we were still in the match and Mr Mack requested that the girls win the second half of nothing else. It was an incredible display that followed. With the ball we hit the hooks of the D on multiple occasions and without the ball we defended the line to goal superbly. We deservedly scored two goals to put the score to 3-3. Ten minutes remained and we squandered a chance to take the lead with two players vs the Ipswich goalkeeper. Ipswich went straight to the other end and scored to take a lead of 4-3. We changed formation removing a defender and adding an attacker to chase the game but it wasn’t to be with Ipswich taking advantage of the resulting exposed Gresham’s goal in the final few minutes. It was a fantastic game nonetheless and the girls really did show how well they can play.
