Match Report
Gresham's School The Mighty U14Bs vs  Wymondham College
On: Saturday, 19 May 2018
Venue: Away

The U14B team beat Wymondham by 29 runs. Put in to bat, we scored 187 runs off 25 overs, and losing 4 wickets. Nick Dugdale batted well again for 22 not out, and Alex Claybourn showed his sporty colours by also making 22, mostly in exciting singles. But the player of the match was Jack Reader, with 72 not out, having come in at the start of the 4th over. He had to face some good tight bowling, but showed a tremendous eye for the ball.

The team were confident about the next innings. Wymondham scored at a good rate, but lost wickets too regularly and were eventually bowled out in 23.2 overs. Alex Roper fielded very well on his debut for the Bs, and Alex Claybourn kept wicket well too. Jack Reader took a wonderful catch, plucking the ball out of the air (a trademark action for him now). Harry Short took two excellent wickets In his two-over spell, and Toby Collins bowled tidily for an LBW after a wobbly start. However, the best and most economical bowler by far was Ollie Thomas, with 4 wickets for 22 off 4.3 overs. He bowled straight and true, and that’s the way to take wickets at this level. A very good victory for the boys.
